Yes. The Elle TENS is made by Babycare TENS. Babycare has an active medical device license with Health Canada for the Elle TENS. The Elle TENS can safely be used after the 37th week of pregnancy. Do not use it before 37 weeks unless directed to by your care provider. There are no known side effects to you or your baby.
Most people can use a TENS unit safely. If you have epilepsy or any type of heart condition please consult with your medical professional before using any TENS unit. Do not use a TENS unit if you have a pacemaker.

No. The Babycare Elle TENS units have been specifically designed for use in labour. Larger electrode pads are used and the “Boost” mode is essentially for pain relieve during contractions.
Yes. The Elle TENS is an excellent method for coping before you are able to enter the birthing pool but cannot be used in water. You will not be able to enter the birthing pool until you are at least 4-5 cm dilated and in active labour so using the Elle TENS before then will help you cope.
Yes. The Elle TENS can be used at the hospital. It can safely be used when an external fetal monitor is in place. However, if you receive an epidural or spinal anaesthesia the TENS unit should not be used, nor can it be used in water.
Yes. Depending on your extended medical benefits you may be able to be reimbursed for all or part of the rental fee. You will receive a receipt along with your rental unit to submit for reimbursement. Please check with your insurance company for more information.
Yes. It is safe to use after giving birth to treat cramps, shoulder pain, hip or backache.
The rental fee is $65 for a 5 week rental period. Any additional time is subject to the added fee of $15 per week (or part there of).
The rental period is for a maximum of 5 weeks however if you’d like to extent your rental that may be possible for an additional $15 per week (or part there of).

You have two options:
- The Elle TENS unit can be mailed anywhere in BC for an additional $25+tax, or
- You can arrange pick up in East Vancouver for no additional cost.
If you choose to have the unit shipped to you it will be sent out a few days before your 37th week to ensure it arrives on time.
For pickup, we will arrange a time when you are 37 weeks.
To return the unit please organize drop off at a designated time or return it via shipping.
